In 2026, the Korean government has introduced some massive upgrades to the Subfertility Treatment Support (난임부부 시술비 지원) to ease our burdens. 

Not only has the financial support increased, but the administrative process has become much more "mom-friendly." 

Today, I’m breaking down everything from IVF/IUI support to the newly expanded Korean Medicine (Hanuiwon) benefits. Let's get your miracle started! ✨

[Eligibility] - Who can apply?

먼저 내가 지원 대상인지 확인하는 게 가장 중요하죠? 2026년부터는 소득 제한이 거의 없어졌다고 봐도 무방할 정도로 문턱이 낮아졌어요.

The eligibility criteria have been significantly relaxed to ensure more couples can receive help without worrying about income caps in most regions (especially Seoul!).

1. Basic Requirements
• Marital Status: Legal or common-law couples (사실혼) with at least one Korean citizen partner. 
• Residency: Must be registered in Korea. For Seoul-si and Gyeonggi-do residents, special benefits like Hanuiwon support apply. 
• Health Insurance: Both partners must be enrolled in the National Health Insurance and their premium payments must be verifiable.
  
  
2. Foreign Residents (ARC Holders):
   외국인 근로자나 거주자분들도 ARC(외국인등록증)와 건강보험(Health Insurance)만 있다면 신청 가능해요!
• Registration: You must hold a valid Alien Registration Card (ARC, 외국인등록증).
• Health Insurance: You must be a subscriber or a dependent under the National Health Insurance. 
• Proof of Marriage:
• Legal Marriage: A "Marriage Eligibility Affidavit" (혼인요건 진술서) or "Certificate of Single Status" (미혼증명서) from your embassy. 
• Common-law: You may need an Apostilled/Consular-confirmed "Family Relation Certificate" from your home country, translated and notarized.

This is the core of the 2026 update. The government is now focusing on the actual "cost" and "convenience" of the patients.

2026년 개정안의 핵심은 '더 많이, 더 길게' 랍니다. 특히 냉동난자 해동비 지원이 신설된 점이 눈에 띄네요. 💰

1. 2026 Major Policy Updates

• Extended Validity: The "Support Decision Notice" (지원결정통지서) is now valid for 6 months (previously 3 months). 시술 일정을 잡기가 훨씬 여유로워졌어요! You no longer have to rush your procedure schedule!

• Frozen Egg Thawing (New!): For those using previously frozen eggs for pregnancy, the cost of thawing is now supported.
• Max Benefit: Up to 300,000 KRW per procedure.

• Diagnosis Letter Validity: Once you get an infertility diagnosis, it stays valid for 10 years. 10년 동안은 다시 서류 떼느라 고생 안 하셔도 됩니다!

2. Coverage Details

• Co-payment Support: Covers 90% of the co-payment (본인부담금) for medical procedures.

• Non-reimbursable Items(Specifics):
• Embryo Freezing (배아동결비): Max 300,000 KRW
• Implantation/Miscarriage Meds: Max 200,000 KRW each
• Miscarriage Preventer (유산방지제): Max 200,000 KRW 

• Seoul & Gyeonggido Special: Korean Medicine (한의약 지원)
  서울시/경기도 거주 6개월 이상 부부라면 한의원 시술비도 지원받으세요!
• Benefit: Full support for herbal medicine (한약) for 3 months
• Value: Approximately 1.2 million KRW per person (female/male limits apply)

[How to Apply] - Step-by-Step Guide

신청 절차, 복잡해 보이지만 딱 3단계만 기억하세요! 온라인과 오프라인 중 편한 방법을 선택해서 진행할 수 있어요~ 

1. Preparation: Visit a designated infertility clinic and receive the Infertility Diagnosis Letter (난임진단서). 
   
   
2. Submit Application:
• Online: Use Government 24 (정부24) or e-Health Portal (e-보건소).
• Offline: Visit your local Public Health Center (Bogeonso). 수원시 맘들은 수원시 보건소로 가시면 되겠죠?
  
  
3. Approval: Receive the "Support Decision Notice(지원결정통지서)" and present it to the hospital before your treatment starts.
   
   
4. Treatment: Show the notice to your clinic before starting the procedure. 
   
   
5. Claiming (Thawing Fee): If claiming for frozen egg thawing, submit the "Consent Form for Embryo Cryopreservation" and the "Statement of Cryopreservation/Thawing" to the Bogeonso after the procedure.

[Checklist] - 필수 체크리스트

✅ ID/ARC: 외국인등록증이나 주민등록증을 꼭 챙기세요. Ensure your registration is up to date.

✅Health Insurance: 건강보험 자격확인서 (Can be printed from the NHIS website.). 

✅Infertility Diagnosis at Designated Clinic: Must be from a government-designated clinic. 반드시 '정부 지정 난임시술 기관'에서 시술받아야 지원금이 나옵니다! 

 

✅Marriage Proof: Especially for foreigners (Embassy certificates).

✅Bank Account: For any reimbursements. 환급금을 받을 계좌번호를 확인하세요. 

💡For Hanuiwon Benefit: Check if you have lived in Seoul for at least 6 months for the Hanuiwon benefit.

Also, don't go to any hospital. You must visit a "Designated Subfertility Medical Institution" (난임시술 지정 의료기관). You can find the list on the e-Health (e-보건소) or Ministry of Helath and Wealfare official website(보건복지부). If you receive treatment at a non-designated clinic, you won't get a single won in support!  

If your home country's documents are not in English or Korean, make sure they are translated and notarized before visiting the Bogeonso. It will save you a second trip!
