[K-Policy][Urgent] 2026 Infertility Medical Support: Max 500k KRW for Childless Couples | 인구보건복지협회 4월 난임 의료비 지원 접수 시작!

2026년 난임의료비 지원사업 4월 접수!

안녕하세요, 서울에서 치열하게 일하고 아이를 키우는 '88한 열매맘'입니다🍏

As a team leader and a mom, I know that the journey to welcoming a new life is both a blessing and a massive financial challenge. Especially for those of us navigating the medical system in Korea, the costs for infertility treatments—like PGT or PRP—can stack up faster than we expect.

Many couples are already aware of the standard government subsidies, but did you know there’s a special "Infertility Medical Expense Support" (난임 의료비 지원사업) provided by the Population and Health Association? It covers the "hidden gaps" that the government doesn't always touch. Today, I’m breaking down the April 2026 application cycle. April 1st is the D-Day, so let's get you prepared!

Infertility Medical Expense Support

[Eligibility] Who can apply?

The most important thing to remember is that this program targets childless couples (including legal and common-law marriages) who are struggling with infertility.

1. General Requirements

Table: Standard Median Income ≤ 150% (기준 중위소득 150% 이하)

2. Special Note for Foreigners (다문화 가정 특화)

If you are a foreign resident in Korea, don't worry! You are eligible as long as:

  • At least one spouse is a Korean National.

  • Both spouses are enrolled in the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) and have a valid ARC (Alien Registration Card).

  • The insurance premium must be verifiable.

3. Income Criteria (2026 Standard)

To qualify, your monthly health insurance premium must fall under the 150% median income bracket.

(Note: Exact KRW amounts vary slightly by family size, but generally, for a 2-person household, it is approximately 5.5 - 6.0 million KRW in gross monthly income.)

[Benefit] What do you get?

This support is designed to cover non-reimbursed (비급여) costs that occurred within 3 months prior to the application month.

  • Maximum Support: Up to 500,000 KRW per couple (once in a lifetime).

  • Key Covered Items:

    • For Women: Hormone tests (FSH, LH, etc.), Uterine Hysterosalpingography (X-ray), PGT (Pre-implantation Genetic Testing), PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy, and specific injections like Ovidrel.

    • For Men: Sperm analysis, hormone tests (Testosterone), and genetic tests for Klinefelter syndrome.

  • Excluded Items: Costs already covered by standard government subsidies (AMH, standard ultrasound, and basic ART procedures).

[How to Apply] The 2-Step Process

This is a first-come, first-served (선착순) program. Only 35 families are selected per month, so speed is key!

Step 1: Online Application (The "Click War")

Step 2: Document Submission

Once you pass the initial Naver Form screening, the association will contact you individually (by the 14th of the month) to request physical documents.

Pro Tips: Expert Advice from 열매맘💡

Expert Tip 1: The "Designated Clinic" Rule

Your expenses are only eligible if they were spent at a Government-Designated Infertility Clinic (난임지정의료기관). If you went to a local urologist or a general radiologist that isn't on the list, you cannot claim those costs. Check the status of your clinic on the HIRA (Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service) website first!

Expert Tip 2: Timing is Money

The support covers expenses within 3 months of application. For an April application, receipts from January, February, and March are valid. If you have a big procedure planned for May, wait and apply in June!

Expert Tip 3: For Global Couples

If you are an ARC holder, make sure your name on the insurance certificate matches your ARC exactly. Any discrepancy can lead to rejection during the strict document review phase.

Expert Tip 4: 2026 Policy Update

Under the 2026 revised guidelines, the government has streamlined many birth-related subsidies, but this specific program remains one of the few that covers PGT (Pre-implantation Genetic Testing). This is a huge win for older parents or those with genetic concerns!
